My wife, Donna, and I found St. James at Sag Bridge in 2020 and, even though we live 15 miles away, it quickly became our home. The piety, devotion and reverence for the faith demonstrated by the parishioners of St. James were (and are) an inspiration and a challenge that encourage us to deepen our faith and live our faith more fully.
I grew up on the southwest side of Chicago. Even though I am the product of 12 years of Catholic education, for most of my adult life I was completely and intentionally absent from the Church. I was a Catholic that did not need church. It wasn’t until, one day, I accepted my wife’s invitation to come to Mass that I realized just how wrong I was. My wife brought me back to church, the Mass brought me back to Faith.
We’ve been married 44 years and are blessed to have two married sons that are active in the faith and are raising their children in the faith. We have lived in Lombard for 37 years. I was only too happy to join the Sag Bridge Mission Society. The Society is dedicated to proclaiming and defending the unchanged and unchangeable truth of the Holy Catholic Church and helping spread the faith and Jesus’ message of salvation.
The only hope for the survival of our country and civilized society throughout the world is the Catholic Church. Only the Catholic Church has the authority, granted by God and inherited from the Apostles.
In order for the Church to accomplish this, we need an energized and motivated Catholic laity. We need a devoted laity to be sheepdogs for our shepherds, helping them to guard and guide the flock on the narrow path to eternal life. I see this as the goal of the Sag Bridge Mission Society and am glad to be whatever help I can to accomplish it.
